The Rosso Piceno Superiore DOC Clara Marcelli is an organic wine born from the harmonious combination of Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, an authentic expression of the Marche region. This wine is the result of careful viticulture and artisanal winemaking that adhere to the principles of organic farming, enhancing the unique characteristics of the hills of Castorano, in the province of Ascoli Piceno.
In the glass, the Rosso Piceno Superiore presents an intense ruby red color, tending towards garnet. On the nose, it opens with intense aromas of dark fruit and violet flowers, accompanied by notes of black cherries, sour cherries in spirit, and wild strawberries. These are followed by hints of humus, wet earth, mushrooms, and a delicate touch of spices like black pepper and licorice, completed by toasted nuances of coffee beans and aromatic herbs such as fennel and marjoram.
On the palate, this wine impresses with its round body and balanced structure. The tannins are smooth and well-integrated, offering a sensation of fullness and harmony. The intact freshness and savoriness give liveliness and persistence, with a long finish that recalls the fruity and spicy aromas perceived on the nose.
The Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes come from vineyards with different exposures: the Montepulciano is cultivated on east-facing slopes, while the Sangiovese on west-facing ones. The soils, rich in sand and clay on the surface and bioclasts in depth, are typical of the area between the Marche and Umbrian Apennines. The vines are trained with a spur cordon, with an average yield of about 60 quintals per hectare, and benefit from an ideal microclimate thanks to the proximity of the Adriatic Sea and the protection of the Apennines.
The vinification is carried out separately for the two varieties, with fermentations in stainless steel at controlled temperatures using indigenous yeasts. The Montepulciano is then aged in barriques, while the Sangiovese in large barrels, for a period of about 18 months, followed by further aging in the bottle.
A red wine that tells the tradition and passion of the Clara Marcelli winery, offering an authentic and engaging tasting experience.
