Cantina Cossignani L.E. Tempo was born from the passion of siblings Letizia and Edoardo Cossignani. In 2018, they decided to restore the historic vineyards of their grandfather Saturnino in Massignano, among the Marche hills in the province of Ascoli Piceno. Their choice was ambitious and innovative: to focus exclusively on the production of Metodo Classico sparkling wines, a rare exception in the local wine scene.
Letizia, the creative soul of the winery, left her legal studies to embrace viticulture. Edoardo, a former Navy officer, brought to the estate his deep connection with the land and his desire to innovate. Together, they transformed the family vineyards into a centre of excellence for the production of high-quality sparkling wines.
Cantina Cossignani manages 20 hectares of vineyards cultivated under a certified organic system, planted with native Pecorino and Sangiovese varieties. The terroir of Massignano is mainly characterised by soils rich in calcareous sandstone and an altitude of around 200 metres above sea level. These conditions, combined with the breezes from the Adriatic Sea, encourage balanced grape ripening, giving the sparkling wines great freshness and complexity.
Specifically, the winery produces two flagship labels:
Vinification takes place in cement tanks and oak barriques, followed by secondary fermentation in the bottle with ageing on the lees for more than 24 months, according to the rigorous Metodo Classico technique.
The Cossignani family has over 70 years of winemaking history, beginning in the 1950s with grandfather Saturnino, who introduced innovative techniques such as permanent grass cover between the vine rows to protect the soil from erosion.
Today, Letizia and Edoardo carry this heritage forward with a modern and ambitious vision: to enhance native Marche grape varieties through refined and complex sparkling wines, capable of expressing the territory with freshness and authenticity.
With their quality sparkling wines, Cantina Cossignani has become a voice for an evolving wine identity, balancing respect for the past with a forward-looking spirit.
