Rosso Piceno Superiore DOC 0.75 L – Numa

Numa’s Rosso Piceno Superiore DOC is a wine born from a terroir with varied morphological characteristics, with a high presence of stones and a partially clay component, located at 160 meters above sea level with a southeast exposure. The yield per hectare varies between 70 and 80 quintals, with a double Guyot training system on an average of 3,800 vines per hectare. The harvest is done manually, starting in the second decade of September for Sangiovese grapes and ending in mid-October with the collection of Montepulciano grapes. The vinification process involves placing the selected grapes separately in steel tanks for fermentation and maceration for 9-10 days. Subsequently, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 24 months, during which malolactic fermentation also occurs, keeping the batches separate based on the vineyard of origin. The blending of the batches takes place shortly before bottling, followed by further aging in the bottle for 5 months.

In the glass, Numa’s Rosso Piceno Superiore DOC presents a bright garnet red color. On the nose, it expresses notes of red fruit and minerality, accompanied by herbal nuances. On the palate, it is elegant, with velvety tannins, highlighted acidity and sapidity, and a very present fruity component, giving the wine a complex and balanced structure. For a convivial moment from the Marche region, the production area of this blend, it is recommended to pair Rosso Piceno DOC Superiore with maccheroncini di Campofilone with ragù, followed by wild boar stew or roast veal.
