Cantina Maria Pia Castelli, located in Monte Urano in Le Marche, is a reference point for Italian winemaking. Founded in 1999 by Erasmo Castelli, the winery is now guided with dedication by his daughter Maria Pia and her husband Enrico Bartoletti. Their philosophy combines tradition and innovation, with the aim of producing quality wines that are authentic and representative of the Marche territory.
With 8 hectares of vineyards located 200 metres above sea level, the winery benefits from a unique microclimate, thanks to its proximity to the Sibillini Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. The clay soils, rich in minerals such as iron and magnesium, give the wines a strong territorial identity. Among the grape varieties grown are Sangiovese and Montepulciano for red wines, while the white wines are made from Pecorino, Passerina, Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca di Candia.
Cantina Maria Pia Castelli adopts organic and biodynamic practices to ensure the utmost respect for the environment and the quality of the grapes. Every stage of cultivation is carried out by hand, from soil care to plant protection using natural methods, encouraging biodiversity and minimising environmental impact.
Yields in the vineyard are deliberately kept low in order to obtain grapes of superior quality and wines with an intense expression of the territory.
In the cellar, winemaking follows a minimal and natural approach. Fermentations take place spontaneously, without the addition of selected yeasts, while extended macerations allow the grapes’ characteristics to be fully extracted.
The use of sulphites is kept to a minimum, and no invasive clarification or filtration processes are carried out, preserving the authenticity of the wine. Depending on the needs of each individual wine, ageing takes place in French oak barriques or stainless steel tanks.
Thanks to this meticulous care, the wines of Cantina Maria Pia Castelli stand out for their elegance, complexity and authenticity. Appreciated both in Italy and abroad, they represent one of the excellences of Marche viticulture, showing how the perfect combination of tradition and innovation can give life to unique, high-quality products.
